Marthin started his career in financial services in 1993 when he joined the IDC. During his tenure he was, inter alia, involved in debt and project finance and business turnarounds. Marthin serves on the boards of a number of Nedbank Capital Private Equity’s investee companies.

He is currently serving a three-year term on the Directorate of Market Abuse. He was previously an executive director and CIO of Abvest Associates and Old Mutual Asset Managers. Prior to that, he was professor of Accounting at the University of Cape Town. He served on the Accounting Standards Committee of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and co-authored with Professor GK Everingham “Generally Accepted Accounting Practice – A South African Viewpoint”.

He is a founding executive director of Resilient and was the managing director of Diversified Property Fund Limited until its incorporation into Resilient.

Rory was formerly the director – finance for the eThekwini Unicity, managing its investment portfolio with responsibilities including management of the property leaseback portfolio and money market activities. He has been involved in the development/implementation of special projects, including the International Convention Centre, the Cato Manor Housing Project, the Durban Marine Theme Park, the Durban Point Precinct and the 2010 World Cup project. Rory was also the principal officer of the Durban Pension Fund and is currently a trustee of the Fund.
